# ICICarbonPulse: Turn Energy and Carbon Performance into a Daily Management Experience

icitech develops ICICarbonPulse for energy operations directors and enterprise CIOs: a solution tailored to the organisation's data infrastructure, site structure, and operating model that moves energy consumption, carbon emissions, and sustainability targets out of technical reports and into the daily decision-making experience of managers and staff.

02 The problem

## Tailored to Your Organisation's Sustainability Model, Not an Off-the-Shelf Package

ICICarbonPulse is not a general-purpose carbon calculator or a pre-built energy dashboard. icitech scopes the solution after analysing the organisation's site structure, energy sources, emissions methodology, sustainability targets, and existing data infrastructure. Mobile screens, KPI formulas, AI-driven recommendations, notification design, and integration points are defined with the organisation as part of the project scope. The result is not a product taken from a catalogue but a digital touchpoint built specifically for the organisation, connecting its sustainability strategy to daily operations.

## Site-Level Energy Consumption and Carbon Visibility

Consumption data for electricity, natural gas, and any other energy sources the organisation defines can be monitored in the mobile application according to each user's authorised scope. A site manager sees current consumption and period-on-period comparisons for their own location, while the sustainability team can track carbon target performance across the entire organisation. Energy consumption is mapped to defined emissions factors to calculate the carbon equivalent, so users can see not only how much energy has been used but also its environmental impact in clear terms.

Site-Level Energy Consumption and Carbon Visibility

- 01 ### Data Sources and System Integration Energy data can be drawn from smart meters, IoT platforms, building management systems (BMS), ERP platforms, or manual data entry. Data from disparate systems is consolidated into a single central data model. Financial data can feed from the ERP, site energy data from monitoring systems, and targets from a central sustainability platform. User interactions and action data generated within the mobile application can be pushed to the BI environment. This architecture means that the values visible in ICICarbonPulse and the values in corporate management reporting always share the same data.
- 02 ### Target Tracking and Performance Benchmarking The organisation's energy and carbon reduction targets can be defined in the application at site, region, company, or department level. A director can see in real time on a mobile screen which locations are on track and where deviations are occurring. Mobile dashboards present KPIs such as energy intensity, carbon intensity, renewable energy share, and percentage of target achieved, configured to the organisation's reporting approach. Sustainability performance thereby becomes visible within the daily management routine rather than only in periodic reports.

04 How it works

## AI-Driven Efficiency Recommendations and an LLM-Based Sustainability Assistant

The AI layer within ICICarbonPulse analyses consumption patterns and surfaces issues that warrant attention: unexpected overnight consumption, energy intensity that is high relative to comparable sites, and recurring peak-usage patterns are among the signals it prioritises. These recommendations do not replace the judgement of technical teams; they surface the most critical signals quickly from within large volumes of energy data. In addition, the LLM-based sustainability assistant allows users to query data within their authorised scope using natural language. Questions such as 'How far off our carbon target are we this month?' or 'How has electricity-sourced emissions changed compared to last year?' can be answered by connecting the organisation's sustainability policies to the assistant via a RAG architecture.

AI-Driven Efficiency Recommendations and an LLM-Based Sustainability Assistant

- 01 ### Role-Based Experience and Personalised Notifications Not every user needs to see the same energy data in the same way. A site manager can see technical alerts and operational KPIs, the sustainability team can focus on carbon target performance, and employees can receive awareness content and individual efficiency suggestions. Notifications are configured by role and location; the AI prioritises the most significant changes within each user's area of responsibility, reducing unnecessary notification volume. ICICarbonPulse thereby becomes an active sustainability channel that delivers the right information to the right person at the right time, rather than a passive display screen.
- 02 ### Employee Engagement and Organisation-Wide Awareness Energy efficiency is shaped not only by capital investment but also by day-to-day user behaviour. An organisation can choose to position ICICarbonPulse as a sustainability experience for employees beyond site managers. Energy-saving guidance, corporate targets, and sustainability announcements can be published through the mobile application. Gamification scenarios including department- or site-level energy targets, achievement badges, and awareness tasks can be configured to fit the organisation's culture. When out-of-hours consumption rises at a particular site, targeted briefings can be shared with the relevant teams; sustainability achievements can be linked to internal communications campaigns.

06 FAQ

## Frequently Asked Questions

01Is ICICarbonPulse a standard software package we can deploy immediately? No — it is configured from the ground up for each organisation, based on your structure, site layout, and existing data infrastructure. There is no off-the-shelf version.

02Which data sources and systems can it integrate with?Integration can be established with smart meters, BMS platforms, ERP systems, and cloud-based sensor networks already in use across the organisation. The integration scope is agreed with icitech at the start of the project.

03What does site-level visibility mean in practice?Energy and emissions data for each building, campus, or production facility becomes individually trackable, so it is immediately clear which sites are deviating from their targets.

04Can the system be aligned with our Net Zero or SBTi commitments?Net Zero, SBTi, or internal governance targets are defined within the system, and real-time progress is reported against them. The target structure can be updated as commitments evolve.

05How do the AI-driven recommendations work? The system analyses consumption patterns and presents prioritised efficiency opportunities in concrete terms. The LLM-based assistant also allows non-technical users to explore data through natural-language questions.

06How does the experience differ across seniority levels and roles?A tailored interface and notification profile is defined for each role, so an operations manager and a C-suite director access data at different levels of detail. Each user encounters content appropriate to their decision-making responsibilities.

07What tools are available to improve employee awareness?Department-level consumption comparisons, achievement badges, and notification modules supporting internal sustainability campaigns are all available. Engagement mechanisms are configured to suit the organisation's communications culture.

08What are the technical infrastructure requirements?Cloud, hybrid, and on-premise deployment options are all supported. The architecture is chosen to align with the organisation's existing IT security policies.

09How long does implementation typically take? The project timeline is agreed at the outset based on scope and integration complexity. A phased go-live model means initial value can be demonstrated at an early stage.

10Can the platform be extended as our estate or reporting requirements grow?New sites, data sources, or reporting requirements can be accommodated as the platform scales. The modular architecture is designed to remain open to change as regulations and targets develop.
