# OkVibe: Turning Silence into a Meaningful Safety Signal

icitech built OK Check-In: OkVibe for people who live alone, travel solo, or simply want to let someone know they are fine at a set time each day. The application delivers a scheduled 'I'm OK' check-in routine and an automated trusted-contact alert flow when a check-in is missed — without requiring continuous phone calls or full location tracking.

## A Precise Problem Between Two Extremes

A daily 'are you all right?' call becomes a burden for both parties over time. At the other end, continuous location sharing or a full family-monitoring application can feel intrusive for what is, in reality, a modest reassurance need. OkVibe occupies a well-defined space between those two extremes: the user checks in at a time they choose, and if they do not respond within that window, a pre-configured alert flow reaches the trusted contacts they have selected. The design starts from a clear premise — this is a daily reassurance routine, not an emergency service, fall-detection system, or guaranteed security platform.

## Maximum Clarity in the Fewest Steps

The product architecture is built around keeping the required behaviour as simple as possible. A user defines their trusted contacts and sets a check-in window — for a daily routine, the end of a shift, or a solo trip. A reminder arrives before the window closes; a single tap sends the 'I'm OK' confirmation. If no confirmation is received, the system can deliver the alert flow the user configured in advance to their selected contacts. Optional status notes and a check-in history give both the user and their trusted contacts useful context. One design decision stands out: a trusted contact does not need to use the application actively. The relationship is framed as an asymmetric reassurance connection rather than a reciprocal obligation.

## When Silence Becomes a Meaningful Signal

OkVibe's value proposition rests on a proactive rather than reactive model of reassurance. The user actively says 'I'm fine'; when an expected check-in does not arrive, that silence becomes a meaningful signal. The application builds this model on a tone of calm and human connection rather than fear — a tone emphasised explicitly in the official App Store description. Students, remote workers, solo travellers, and adults who live alone are identified as the primary audience, and the product addresses their reassurance needs through a combination of low friction and deliberately limited scope.

## Project Scope and Scope Boundaries

OK Check-In: OkVibe is a consumer mobile application published on the Apple App Store. The product is structured around three core functions: a daily check-in flow, a missed check-in alert, and trusted-contact management. The application's App Store privacy disclosure states that location and contact information may be processed as part of the application's functions; this is based on the developer's own declaration. No publicly available performance metrics have been published covering missed-event detection, response times, or user behaviour. The verifiable deliverable of the project is the working product itself — a single, low-friction mobile experience that brings scheduled check-ins and an alert flow together.

03 FAQ

## Frequently Asked Questions

01Who is OkVibe designed for?The application was built specifically for people who live alone, travel solo, or want to let someone know they are safe at set times. Anyone who wants a small, consistent reassurance habit in their daily routine can use it.

02How long does a check-in take?A check-in is completed with a single tap and requires no message or call. The interaction is designed to take only a moment.

03What happens if a check-in is missed? If the user does not confirm within the set window, the application automatically alerts the trusted contacts they have configured in advance. The silence itself becomes the signal.

04Does the app require continuous location sharing? No — OkVibe does not rely on continuous active location tracking. The system is built around a scheduled check-in flow rather than location data.

05How many trusted contacts can I add?Multiple contacts can be added to the trusted-contact list. The alert flow can be configured to reach all of them if a check-in is missed.

06Can I set my own check-in times?Yes, check-in scheduling is fully customisable by the user. Different routines can be set up for daily use, weekly patterns, or specific trips.

07Do my trusted contacts need to install the app?Alerts can be delivered via channels that do not require the contact to have the application installed. This means people who are less comfortable with new technology can still be included.

08Is OkVibe a substitute for emergency services? The application does not function as an emergency service or monitored alarm centre; it is a tool for strengthening your personal circle of reassurance. In a genuine emergency, official emergency services should always be the first call.

09Who developed OkVibe?OkVibe was delivered by icitech. The project brought together product design and technical development within an integrated team.

10Which platforms is the application available on?We recommend checking the official application page for current platform availability. The development process was carried out with common mobile operating systems in scope.
